Extensions are small applications that provide post-deployment configuration and automation tasks on Azure virtual machines. For example, if a virtual machine requires software installation, anti-virus protection, or Docker configuration, a VM extension can be used to complete these tasks.
Extensions can be bundled with a new virtual machine deployment or run against any existing system. One or more resource IDs space-delimited. It should be a complete resource ID containing all information of 'Resource Id' arguments.

Please list deployment operations for details. OS disk name is osdisk Hi voiddragon thanks for bringing this issue to our attention! It looks like, since this is a WordPress site, it needs a web hosting plan, which VM create does not expose. It is likely that other custom images in the marketplace with come with pre-installed software as opposed to just an OS might need other resources as well SQL server, etc.
Azure VM Image List
Hi voiddragon. If you run az vm image list you will get the URNs for some common OS images that should all work with az vm create. There are also aliases for some of these, called out in az vm create -h. If you run az vm list --all you will get a list of all images from the Marketplace. Some of these will work, but many of them will not because they go beyond simply configuring a VM with an OS by having pre-installed software or configurations that require additional Azure resources beyond what az vm create is allowed to provision.
In your case, because it is using WordPress, it requires an app service plan. If you would like to create a Marketplace offering like the Bitnami image with WordPress that you tried, you should create that through the portal as it has a different engine that allows it prompt for those things.Zombie protein synthesis worksheet answer key
Basically, there seems to be no way to announce the plan you are using when you create a VM, right? We should support this. Suggestions on CLI:. Many of the OSS images in the marketplace e.Microsoft and partners did a great job in providing many pre-defined images for the IaaS platform, however not all images are available in all Azure regions. To get you started with the Azure CmdLets, refer to my previous post. First step is figuring out which location you want to use for deploying your resources.
The location is needed to create any resource in Azure. This will output a list of Azure locations including the location name and display name. Once you find the location you want to use, make not of the name of display name; the CmdLets in the following commands accept both the location name eg. East Asia. The only parameter it needs, is the location. The following 2 commands will give the same result. Note that the first example uses the location name as input, the second example uses the display name.
When you want to use the display name in the first example, you should use the following:. The CmdLets output a table of available VM sizes, including information on number of cores, memory, etc. Next, you could do filtering on the list by using the Where-Object CmdLet. For example, if you want to see all VM sizes in West Europe location which have 4 or more cores, you can do the following:. Next step is to get the available images for your location.
However, the CmdLet uses 4 input parameters. The images in Azure are stored in the following way:. The following CmdLet can be used for this:. The location parameter can be used as described in the previous chapeter. Now make note of the publisher you want to get the offers for.
This brings you at the end of the process of the image availability check. Next step could be deploying a VM using the selected image. Optionally, you could tie all image-related CmdLets together by piping the commands. For example, you can output ALL available image in a certain location :. This command would be running for a while; it will retrieve a lot of data, so I advice you to output the data to a file using Set-ContentOut-File or Export-Csv.
The scripts have been uploaded to the Microsoft Technet Gallery. I hope this article was useful for you. Skus pick one!

Backup, Microsoft. In the last post we successfully logged into Azure and created a resource group in the default subscription. For me this ended up with:. As you see from the output default location of the VM is the resource group location. Public IP address is also assigned by default. What about other VM resources? We can check this with:. During VM or additional network interface creation yes!
The appropriate option is --vnet-namehowever, just specifying --vnet-name may result in new vnet creation. For linux machines obvious answer is ssh key-based authentication. To specify the key you can use either --ssh-key-value or --generate-ssh-keys. Which is not so obvious to use the first option with a file name you have to prepend the argument value withby default ssh public key is expected to be specified in command line. Which will show tens of images and than you can use any urn to specify the exact build you are interested in, like : RedHat:RHEL For scripting purposes --yes will be useful to prevent interactive questions.

Also browse available images and offers using the Azure Marketplace storefront, the Azure portalor Azure PowerShell. Run the az vm image list command, without the --all option, to see a list of popular VM images in the Azure Marketplace. For example, run the following command to display a cached list of popular images in table format:.
The output includes the image URN the value in the Urn column. To find a specific VM image in the Marketplace, use the az vm image list command with the --all option. This version of the command takes some time to complete and can return lengthy output, so you usually filter the list by --publisher or another parameter. For example, the following command displays all Debian offers remember that without the --all switch, it only searches the local cache of common images :.
Apply similar filters with the --location--publisherand --sku options. You can perform partial matches on a filter, such as searching for --offer Deb to find all Debian images.
If you don't specify a particular location with the --location option, the values for the default location are returned. Another way to find an image in a location is to run the az vm image list-publishersaz vm image list-offersand az vm image list-skus commands in sequence. With these commands, you determine these values:. Use this information to find offers from a specific publisher.
For example, for the Canonical publisher in the West US location, find offers by running azure vm image list-offers. Pass the location and the publisher as in the following example:. But what SKUs? To get those values, run azure vm image list-skus and set the location, publisher, and offer that you discovered:.
Finally, use the az vm image list command to find a specific version of the SKU you want, for example, Now you can choose precisely the image you want to use by taking note of the URN value. Pass this value with the --image parameter when you create a VM with the az vm create command.
